Welcome
Kyle Shiroma
Data Science @ UC San Diego
Background
Began at Norco College, balancing Computer Science coursework with CCCAA JUCO soccer. Served as a Mathematics Tutor at the Learning Resources Center.
Conducted research under Dr. Doina Bein at CSU Fullerton, where I developed a UEFA Euro prediction model. By implementing Random Forests and ELO rating systems, I successfully bridged the gap between sports domain knowledge and predictive modeling.
Winner of the ASA NYC x AI4Purpose hackathon with Pulsepanion, an AI healthcare tool. Other work includes healthcare disease prediction modeling and customer segmentation analytics using supervised learning.
Now at UC San Diego (Data Science / Math). As an HDSI Lab 3.0 Fellow, I build AI-driven tools for K–12 education. I also lead analytics dashboarding for the UCSD Center for Energy Research via DS3 and am an incoming Data Analytics Intern at Southern California Edison.
